Despite challenges, Greene assures the public of available appointments and ongoing efforts to address the situation. Notably, the embassy conducted over 150,000 interviews this year, including 30,000 with students, indicating progress despite COVID-19-related backlogs.

Visa challenges in Nigeria include lengthy processing times, inconsistent application requirements, and limited visa categories.

A recent report reveals challenges faced by Nigerian citizens in international travel, ranking the nation at the 90th spot in the global passport index.

Nigeria’s passport ranks fifth least favorable for visa-free travel within Africa, surpassing only the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Sudan, and Libya, all grappling with notable challenges tied to insecurity and violence.
